Current Weather is a desktop application for checking the weather forecast. After starting the application, the user can:
- Get current weather data and a 5-day forecast for two locations (for example, the current location and a travel destination).
- Get the device’s current location based on its IP address, so there is no need to enter the city name manually.
- Get weather data using a city name or geolocation data.
- Save the latest weather data when closing the application and automatically load it the next time the application starts.
Technologies used
- I wrote the application using Java 21.
- I used Maven to build the application.
- I used JavaFX 21 to create the graphical user interface.
- The application communicates with public APIs using the JSON format.
- I used the Jackson library to save data when the application is closed and automatically load it when the application starts.
- The application has unit tests written using JUnit 5 and Mockito.
- The source code can be compiled into a portable fat JAR file (works on any computer with Java installed), a portable exe executable file (does not require Java), or an exe or msi installer (allows the user to install the application on their computer).
